Sony revealed that over 3.9 million PlayStation 3 units were sold during the “holiday sales season”, with Sony not specifying which months fall under that phrase. By itself, that’s an impressive sales figure, but when compared to the competition, the numbers are not as impressive. The Xbox 360 managed to out perform the PS3 by selling 10 million consoles during the holiday period. As for other sales figures, the PlayStation Move managed to move (pun intended) 1.7 million units, while the PSP sold 1.6 million units during the same time period. As for the PlayStation Vita, it managed to cross the 500,000 mark in Japan just recently.
