PlayStation 3 firmware 3.61 has been released all across the world, marking the first stage of the ‘Phased Restoration’ – as Sony calls it – and online play should be available to all by the end of today.
Whilst the update is up for everyone, the UK is still waiting to play online once more. We have been told that this will be by the end of the day by a Sony rep, and the firmware update is the first sign that this is going to happen. One of the first signs of the security enhancements and upgrades they promised hits you right in the face on start-up, you have to change your password. Although Sony have forgotten that the hacker could just use your security answer to get a new password, this is a reassuring step to safety once more.
